Our mission at Support Claim Services (SCS) is to provide efficient, professional and quality services that utilize our state-of-the-art technological systems within a HIPAA compliant environment. We endeavor to assist our clients with the ever-changing challenges of handling medical claims. SCS considers the individual needs and concerns of our clients to provide an unparalleled level of customer service and is dedicated to making sure that our clients receive a superior product. Our dedicated medical management team and staff provide national service for No-Fault, Liability, and Workers Compensation claims, in the area of Bill Review, Document Management Solutions, Functional capacity Evaluations, Independent Medical Examinations and Record Reviews, MRI Referral Services and Radiological reviews throughout the United States. Support Claim Services’ has developed a virtual claims system which expedites the turn-around time of reports. Our online referrals allow clients to log-in and request services from our secure website, monitor and receive email alerts on case status and retrieve final reports online.

Company History

Support Claim Services, Inc., also known as SCS, was established in 1991. Heading into its 25th year, SCS remains an industry leader providing efficient medical cost containment services with quality evaluations and professional services. Utilizing advanced technology, its dedicated medical management team and staff provides national service for No-Fault, Liability and Workers Compensation Claims in the area of Bill Review, Document Management Solutions, Functional Capacity Evaluations, Independent Medical Examinations, Peer Reviews (Medical Records Review, Surgical Review), MRI Referral Services and Radiology Reviews. Our virtual claims system expedites the turn-around time of reports and our online referrals allows clients to log in and request services from our secure website, receive reports on line, monitor independent medical examinations, peer and bill reviews and receive email alerts when a report is delivered all within a HIPAA compliant environment. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) laws and guidelines are of utmost importance within the medical and insurance industry. Support Claim Services (SCS) recognizes that the volume of paperwork that exists within these said industries can be overwhelming and too easily mishandled. As a business we make sure that our business relationships are solid and that any suppliers or any software vendors in the industry are HIPAA compliant.

Strict Compliance with Government Regulations - As a centralized repository for confidential patient information, the SCS infrastructure was specifically designed for compliance with HIPAA. Among the safeguards in place are:

  • Unique secure user logins - Restricts access to records and features based on a person’s user-level settings.
  • Integrity controls for electronically-transmitted PHI (Protected Health Information) - SCS utilizes 128-bit SSL encryption to protect all data.
  • Physical safeguards – Our primary servers are located at the NAP of the Americas, the company’s fully internally owned and operated private cloud, one of the world’s most premiere Tier-4 data centers. The facility is fortified with redundancies in power, environmental controls, connectivity and physical security. The NAP holds SOC 1 Type 2, SOC 2 Type 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS, NIST 800-53/FISMA, and ISO27001 certificates. In addition, SCS maintains secondary servers at a separate location and perform hourly backups.
  • Preventing PHI from being altered or destroyed - SCS greatly restricts any user’s ability to delete a document from the system or reopen a previously signed report.

Extensive Security Protocols - Ensuring the privacy of patient information is paramount and why we’ve designed multiple layers of security into our applications, including the option to establish specific security settings and audit logs.

Support Claim Services maintains a secure and encrypted web based system and protects all the valuable and private information for each and every client.


In July of 2014, Rich DeStefano was named Chief Executive Officer of Support Claim Services. In this role, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the company, which provides efficient medical cost containment services with quality evaluations and professional services. He manages a staff of over 65 employees that are processing a high volume of claims on a national basis for No-Fault, Liability and Workers Compensation Claims while also offering a national Bill Review Program. With over 20 years of accomplished sales management experience and a high-level of expertise in the IME and Investigative Services industries, DeStefano possesses excellent communication and customer service skills. He brings his unique expertise at forecasting and anticipating trends and opportunities, to maximize the Company’s sales potential through a dynamic team approach. Prior to joining Support Claim Services, DeStefano was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at BME Gateway / Examworks. There he managed the day-to-day sales activities for its regional sales representatives. He managed trade show activities and customer related events while also overseeing the daily operations for the New York office. Other responsibilities included planning, process implementation, quality control, and service delivery workflows. For three years, DeStefano served as the Regional Sales Manager at MES Solutions where he managed the day-to-day sales activities for fourteen account representatives. There he developed all marketing plans and supportive materials, managed all trade show activities and customer related events and conducted quarterly sales meeting and training for its staff. Earlier in his career he held positions at NCG, Inc., Berkshire Hathaway Shoe Holding (Carolina Division), Pegasystems Inc., and Chase Manhattan Bank where he serves as the assistant Treasurer in the Corporate Treasury Department. DeStefano is a graduate of LaSalle Military Academy in Oakdale, NY. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. John’s University. He currently resides in Seaford, Long Island with his wife and two children.
